SFDS Sealant Day Clinic
Volunteers from the San Francisco Dental Society teamed up with the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry to brighten children's smiles.
In a proactive effort to improve access to care for underserved children in San Francisco, SFDS member dentists along with Pacific students, faculty and dental assistants, provide dental sealants to children during the 8th annual Sealant Day on April 22 at the School of Dentistry's Hutto Patterson Pediatric Clinic.
Disadvantaged children, many from Sanchez Elementary School in San Francisco's Mission District, received sealant treatment, a dental hygiene kit and education on techniques of brushing and flossing. Children who received care were prescreened based on their oral health needs at Pacific's pediatric dental clinic and by dentists from SFDS.

| GIVE KIDS A SMILE DAY (GKAS DAY)…
Held during National Children’s Dental Health Month each February, GKAS provides free oral health education, screening and treatment services to children across the country. Held February 3, 2006, SFDS member dentists visited local kindergarten classes to provide oral health education and an oral health assessment (screening) to each kindergartener. Parents are advised of each child’s oral health, with recommendations for follow-up care if needed.
