The San Francisco Dental Society (SFDS) is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent website collected information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. The SFDS respects the privacy of its members and other visitors to its website. The SFDS strongly believes that if electronic commerce and online activities are to flourish, consumers must be assured that information provided online is used responsibly and appropriately. To protect online privacy, the SFDS has implemented the following policy.

What Information Does the SFDS Collect?
Most data the SFDS collects is used only to help us better serve our members. It is our general policy to collect and store only personal information that our members and visitors knowingly provide. SFDS does not sell, rent, or lease its website collected information to third parties, but SFDS does share its membership information with the California Dental Association and the American Dental Association. The California Dental Association and the American Dental Association maintain membership databases with member information. For information on the respective privacy policies of the California Dental Association www.cda.org and American Dental Association www.ada.org, please visit their websites directly.

From General Users
The SFDS does not collect any personal information from users browsing its Web site. Only aggregate data -- such as the number of hits per page -- are collected. Aggregate data are only used for internal purposes and do not provide any personally identifying information.

From the SFDS's Members, Meeting Registrants, and Other Customers
To gain access to members-only resources and personalization features on sfds.org, members are required to logon. The SFDS may ask users to provide their name, member number (for members), organization name, business phone, and e-mail through membership applications, meeting or seminar registrations, publication orders, subscriptions, and event registrations. Additionally, for some e-mails sent in HTML format by the SFDS to its members through its electronic newsletters, we will collect specific information regarding what the recipient does with that email. For those emails, the SFDS will monitor whether a recipient subsequently clicks through to links provided in the message. Other information collected through this tracking feature includes email address of a user, the date and time of the user's "click," a message number, tracking URL number and destination page. The SFDS only uses this information to enhance its products/services and distribution of those products/services to its members. This information is not sold or distributed in any other manner.

How Does the SFDS Use Data Collected?
The SFDS uses information voluntarily submitted by members and other customers in the following ways:

  • The SFDS Member Services and Products
Generally, the SFDS and its related subsidiaries uses data collected to improve its own web content; to respond to visitors' interests, needs and preferences; and to develop new products and services.

  • Disclosures to Third Parties
Unless you opt out in writing, SFDS may also use your information to provide a SFDS “Find a Dentist” directory and/or other membership directories. While SFDS takes reasonable steps to protect privacy, the internet is inherently not a secure medium. SFDS does, however, endeavor to put in place various security procedures so as to protect any personal information held or stored by SFDS.
