Start your morning with coffee and a clean sweep of old paper records. SFDS members are invited to bring boxed paper documents for secure shredding at our Shred-a-thon.  You bring the paper and we will supply the coffee and donuts. 

When:
Join us bright and early on Monday, September 14, from 9:00-Noon. Reserved 10-minute drop-off times available from 9:00–11:50 AM.

What to bring: 

Paper files in banker boxes or similarly sized boxes, approximately 15" x 12" x 10".

Each member may bring up to 10 boxes at no charge; additional boxes are $5 each, with a maximum of 20 boxes per member.

• No x-rays, film, plastic, plastic folders, sheet protectors, CDs, thumb drives, e-waste, hanging file folders, binder notebooks, bags, or oversized boxes.
• Paper clips, fasteners, rubber bands, and very small binder clips may remain.
• You must take your empty boxes with you after shredding.
• A credit card is required to reserve your spot and may be charged for no-shows, excess boxes, or contamination fees.

Important:  If x-rays or plastic are found in a box, the entire lot may be rejected. If x-rays contaminate the shredded material, a $150 fee may be charged to every participant’s credit card. 

X-Rays: 

Removed X-rays for destruction - $40 per dentist regardless of volume – very limited capacity – must reserve in advance by volume.

TDIC recommendations for disposing of inactive patient records:

• 10 years from the date an adult patient was last seen.
• 10 years from the minor patient’s last treatment or 7 years past the minor patient’s 18th birthday (age 25), whichever is longer.

Registration and Fees: 

Reserve your spot by Friday, September 4 at 4:00 PM. A credit card will be required when you register but will only be charged $20 if you do not show up or cancel less than a week before the event, or if additional charges are accrued. Please ensure that the credit card will not expire before the event. Call the SFDS office at 415-928-7337 to reserve your spot and to report how many boxes you will be bringing.

Cancellation Policy:
Please cancel at least one week in advance to avoid a $20 cancellation fee. Once all time slots are filled, a waiting list will open. If you are unable to attend, please let us know so that we can make your time slot available to those on the waitlist.
